Power outage affects Penelec customers in eastern Erie County

Surgeoner said. “The cooling system for that transformer failed. “It was a larger transformer at a substation in the eastern part of the county,”
We are in the process of transferring customers to other transformers and we should have everybody’s service restored by 4 p.m.”
The outage affects about 5,300 Penelec customers in Harborcreek Township and 5,100 customers in North East Township and Borough, Surgeoner said. Smaller numbers of customers are affected in other areas.
The North East School District posted a message on social media saying it is affected by the outage. Penn State Behrend also is affected.
